Reimagining South Asia in 2030

South Asian cooperation is currently at cross-roads. In this backdrop, there is an emerging urgency to capture the implications of the ongoing dynamics, reflect on what needs to be done to deepen regional cooperation, and come up with innovative solutions to address the attendant challenges.

The present volume is a compendium of rich ideas on all of these which emerged from the Ninth South Asia Economic Summit (SAES IX), hosted by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), on 15-16 October 2016, in Dhaka, Bangladesh,  with the overarching theme of Reimagining South Asia in 2030. The volume contains key takeaways from the deliberations of the four plenary and nine parallel sessions of the SAES IX which focused on a number of relevant cross-cutting issues and a cluster of thematic issues. The volume captures major messages centering around possible pathways to reimage and reimagine South Asia in light of the aspirations embedded in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It is hoped that this volume will appeal to a broad spectrum of readership who are keen to learn about the possible pathways to harness the advantages of closer cooperation in a peacefully rising South Asia.
